Easter Basket Ideas for Boyfriends

As I've mentioned before, I love giving gifts, so any holiday that gives me an opportunity to do so, I'll take advantage of it!

So for all the girlfriends out there lacking inspiration for an Easter Gift for your significant other, have no fear, I'm here!

My boo is in need of workout clothes, so I got him 2 pairs of shorts, The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug (he's obsessed) and some of his favorite candy.

Here's a breakdown of what I got:

2 pairs of shorts: $9.77 each at Walmart / 2 "sleeves" of Twix candies: $1.20 at Walmart / The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug on DVD/Bluray: $24.99

I got creative with the basket and used a leftover beer case.

Have a Happy Easter everybody!

Just Because Gifts for: Boyfriends

One of my favorite things to do is give gifts. Not just at Christmas or on their birthdays, but just because. Sometimes when the love has had a bad day or when he's had a really good day.

Here's a list of inexpensive "just because" gifts for your man:

1) Homemade sweets. The way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Bake him cookies or brownies!

2) Candy Poster. Pinterest has tons of creative candy posters for you to do. It's a "sweet" (pun intended) fun thing to do!

3) A 6-pack. If you're over 21 and your man loves a good beer, pick some up. If you're under 21 and your man loves Mountain Dew, pick some up.

4) A poem/song. Sometimes the best gifts are those that come from the heart. Pick your passion and write/sing from the heart.

5) Love notes. Write a little love note and leave on his car or on his computer. It's kinda like middle school writing notes and putting them in each other lockers.

6) Surprise him with dinner. Make his favorite dish and invite him over for dinner. He'll love it.

7) A New Gadget. Is he a handyman? Get him a new pocket knife.

8) Is a video gamer? Get him that new game he's been wanting.

9) A Mix CD. Put songs that remind you of him or your special song with him.

10) Does he have an all-time favorite movie? Does he still have it on tape? Get him the new, remastered edition of his favorite movie. For example, Star Wars.

It's Friday, I'm in love!

I don't know about you, but I love Fridays and thought I would share 5 things that I am in love with.

{ONE} My boyfriend. I am absolutely in love with my boyfriend, Gill. He makes me feel so special every day and I get butterflies in my stomach whenever I see him. He is easily my best friend, greatest encourager, and love of my life. I love him so incredibly much.

{TWO} Lupita Nyong'o. I haven't seen 12 Years a Slave yet, but, I just love Lupita. She is so classy. I've seen a few of her interviews and fell in love with her.

{THREE} My hometown. I have been so blessed to grow up in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. My favorite thing to do is find beautiful views and just take it all in. I took this picture off the Parkway near Cone Manor.

{FOUR} The Ellen Show. Ellen Degeneres is amazing. I don't have cable and I'm at work when her show airs, so I find myself watching hours and hours of clips from her show. She is generous and witty and I love her!

{FIVE} Weddings. I love ALL things weddings. No, I'm not wedding crazy. I love the wedding industry, designs, and styles. Yes, I want to one day marry Gill, but that's not the only reason why I love all things weddings. I spend hours on Pinterest and Southern Weddings Magazine's website just looking and loving. I love the different styles and ideas that each bride has, I think it's so creative. I want to one day be a part of the wedding industry because it's my passion. Wedding Planning might be in my future.

Wedding Planning Care Package

I came up with a cool idea for a Bridal Care Package recently and wanted to share it with you.

My boyfriend's sister is one of my best friends and had to move to a city where she doesn't know anyone. I wanted to do something nice for her while she's planning her wedding.

1) Wedding Color Nail Polish/Forever 21 2) Notepad/Target 3) Favorite Mints/Target 4) Small Candles/Bath and Body Works 5) Wedding Themed Movie/Target

The Care Package cost me about $20 including shipping. She loved it! If you want to do anything nice for a bride-to-be this a great way to do so.

For the Love of Nashville: Part 2

After a delightful Valentine's Day evening, the next morning I was more than excited to go explore Nashville.

First stop: The Frothy Monkey Coffeehouse. Oh, how I love coffee.

Gill got a bagel sandwich and I decided to giver their homemade hummus and chips.

Next Stop: The Adventure Science Center. We're both pretty big nerds and act like kids all the time. We had such a great time. I'm so glad we went!

Next stop: Mas Tacos Por Favor. I had heard great things and wanted to give it a try. It was absolutely delicious but it quickly got very busy.

Tip: Get there early.

Next Stop: Broadway St. The "strip" of Nashville. Gill and I enjoyed a drink and some great conversation at one of the brewhouses on the strip.

We walked on a gorgeous bridge that connects downtown to the Titans Stadium and to me, it's one of the best views of downtown.

After walking around downtown, we decided to try this new social club called Pinewood Social.

If you ever visit Nashville, you have to go to Pinewood Social.

Tip: Get your name on the list for bowling early. We got there about 5 pm and they already had a waiting list of 11 people on top of reservations. Hopefully, we'll be able to go back there sometime and bowl. It looked so cool!

For the Love of Nashville: Part 1

I could go on and on about how much I am in love with my boyfriend, but that would take me forever to write. The sum of it. He's the love of my life, my soulmate and my best friend. And if he was a city, he would be Nashville. He "gave" me a trip to Nashville for my birthday back in October and because of school, work and previous commitments we decided that it would be great to spend Valentine's weekend there too.

Both he and I have done all the touristy stuff there is to do in Nashville, so we wanted to really experience Nashville, the way the locals do.

So we packed up, filled the gas tank and headed west hand in hand towards Nashville on Friday, February 14th. We arrived around 4 pm, checked into our room, got dressed up and headed out for dinner.

I used this great website, Roadtrippers to plan our trip. It's great, you should check it out.

For Valentine's dinner we went to Monell's Cafe. Later, we met a Nashville native that said that we chose to go to the wrong Monell's location. Nashvillians recommend Monell's in Germantown.

After dinner we decided to go to the Patterson House for drinks and dessert. Go there. Please. It was the coolest experience and the drinks were out of this world. And if you want to get food, get the S'mores. You'll understand why when you taste them. It was so dimly lit I wasn't able to get any good pictures, but here's a picture of Gill and I as we were leaving.

Tip: Get there early. We got there relatively early and still had to wait about an hour before being seated. It gets packed fast and they don't take reservations unless you have a party of 6 or more. Also, it's on the corner of the street and there's no sign. During the day it's a restaurant called The Catbird Seat. That's how you'll know you're at the right place.

Look for Part 2 Tomorrow!

Single Gal Valentine's Survival Guide

I know what it's like to be single on Valentine's Day. I've had many Valentine's Days without a special someone, but I didn't let it get me down. So for all you single ladies out there, I've come up with some great ideas to help you to forget about Valentine's Day and have a great day with your single friends.

1. Have a ROTIC dinner. (It's a romantic dinner without the man, get it?)

Get dressed up, go out to a nice restaurant and have a great time with your girlfriends.

2. Take a day trip.

Grab a couple single gal pals and get out of town for the day.

3. Have a spa day.

Buy your own spa supplies or get a special package at a local spa and spoil yourself.

4. Go to the movies.

See Endless Love for those of you that want a heart wrenching, makes you wish you had a boyfriend feeling at the end.

See That Awkward Moment for a feel good, laugh out loud, still makes you wish you had a boyfriend comedy. And hey, Zac Efron, need I say more?

5. Have a Anti-Valentine's Day Party, where you make fun of the stupid holiday.

Get anti-love party materials, print out pictures of exes and throw darts at them and have a boy bashing, I love myself and all I need is my friends, good time.

6. Buy yourself something nice. You know that dress you saw the other week that you've been pining over for weeks. Get it. You're worth it.

Spoil yourself.

7. Have a girls night.

Netflix and Ben and Jerry's. What more do you need?

Valentine's Day Gift Guide for Him

For the past couple weeks I have been looking for a nice Valentine's Day present for my amazing boyfriend, but I can't find anything that I think he would like or that he would use.

I also felt like a lot of girls run into this type of things when it come to any occasion where you have to buy gifts for the one you're with.

I am on a tight budget and although I would love to spend all my money on him, I have to go for quality instead of quantity.

So for those of you that can't seem to find the perfect gift, I'm here to be your guide. Here's some gifts you can buy or DIY just in time for Valentine's Day!
